Had Summers and Obama understood what Jin understands, they might have handled 2008 much differently. In particular they would have used the power of the state to rescue homeowners as a well as banks. Summers should have been learning from her papers, not scheming on her. I hope many of the fine people on substack who support the Biden-Trump attempts to kneecap China, read her book as think carefully about the alternative policies it suggests. https://www.keyujin.com/the-new-china-playbook

The women are silent because they are complicit. Not just because they “played the gam” but because they now enjoy their position in the game.

This is all narcissism. The women at the top aren’t people in the sense we think about it, they are untethered egos that cannot recognize others as anything other than instrumental to their needs.

for me the most astonishing part is this: larry summers has already accumulated every form of recognition and power imaginable, and yet he still comes across as restless, needy m, and speaks about *her* (i shall not name) like a pervert/loser.

Unhinged comes to mind. He did have to resign because of his sexist comment about women in science, in particular their reluctance to work long hours because of childcare responsibilities. Hardly a great mentor to women. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2005/jan/18/educationsgendergap.genderissues
